As an American as well, i know! I purposely chose the older version (one that would have been used circa 1950s-60s) because of the time period tf2 is set in!! (Though you really don’t have to look that deep into it, this is literally a post about tf2 Soldier wearing transtape, so either way it doesn’t really matter :3)
(Edit: I stand corrected! The pledge I used in the in the art piece is actually the original pledge of allegiance, the one I meant to add to the piece is the (still older) version, updated in 1923 and would have been more commonly used until the 60s-70s, then after the final version of the pledge Americans know today would have been commonly spoken!)
